Join us to learn more about Early College Associate Degree Pathways as we continue to expand access to this opportunity at high schools across the city. This session will focus on pathways to achieve the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science, CCC’s most transferable degrees for graduates transitioning to a university. We will outline the district-supported vetting and onboarding process for degree pathway students. We will discuss key strategies to achieve the diploma and degree concurrently through leveraging dual credit and enrollment coursework, articulated credit for certain high school courses and qualifying AP/IB test scores.

The City Colleges of Chicago have made significant changes to the way that they serve students transitioning from Chicago Public Schools to their colleges. The Chicago Roadmap, an initiative designed specifically to create seamless pathways to high-demand, high-wage industries through CCC, works to ensure CCC-bound students are connected directly to the resources that facilitate progress towards their degree, credential or transfer destination.
The Chicago Roadmap encompasses several student-facing programs spanning middle-school to high school but please attend our session if you are interested in learning more about free end-of-the-year and summer transition supports for current seniors!
Learn about the the Tassel Truancy Intervention Program. It is an online targeted credit obtainment/recovery program that serves chronically absent, off track seniors within 0.5-2 credits of graduating that have a unique barrier that does not allow them to attend in person instruction. These students are facing a unique barrier such as a work obligation, childcare responsibilities, or other severe disengagement that prevents them from attending school and therefore need a more direct path to graduation in order to mitigate the high probability of dropping out.
This session will provide participants with information on how to build a high quality early college program that will increase your school’s CIWP outcome goals. During this session, a case study will be presented on Phillips’ Early College program and how leveraging various partners are providing high quality access to students. Participants will leave this session understanding the impact access can make on students and with guiding questions to bring back to your high schools for your planning.

Reviewing transcripts is paramount in the trajectory of student success and our role is to ensure that all students are on the right path. The task is daunting but we will show you ways to make it work in which this task becomes smoother.

We will review community resources designed to support success for Early College Students enrolled in dual enrollment coursework with CCC, as well as local universities. Our focus will be on next steps for students beyond enrollment to successfully overcome barriers, persist through transitional challenges to earn and stack college credit. We will also discuss supporting students to achieve an early college milestone to make progress on pathways to earn a career certificate and/or college degree.

The To&Through Online Tool provides data on CPS students’ outcomes across several milestones, including 9th Grade OnTrack, high school graduation, and college enrollment, persistence, and completion. The tool shows rates over time and broken down by race/ethnicity, gender, EL, and DL status. In this session, we will walk through the key figures most useful for 9th grade on track teams and Post Secondary Leadership teams that can help drive strategy and planning. We will also provide opportunities to explore trends in your own school's data that can inform your advising and support strategies.
